The RSHT Fan is specifically designed for applications where efficient operation, low noise level, low energy consumption, variable speed and compact design are of utmost importance. It should be installed at the termination point of the chimney or stack section and can be mounted on masonry or metal chimneys. It is typically mounted in the vertical position, but may be sidewall vented as well.
The fan assures a negative pressure is maintained in the entire chimney or stack system. The fan discharges horizontally (vertically, if side-wall vented) at a high velocity.
The fan housing is hinged and the top can be opened for easy service and access to stack.
The RSHT is for use where flue gas temperatures do not exceed 1400°F (760°C) for intermittent operation and 1000°F (538°C) for continuous operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the fan be recessed?Even though the fans offer a very compact and low profile, some customers wish to hide it from the view below. The fan may be recessed or hidden as long as the fan is allowed to vent properly. |
Can you run wire inside the flue? No. The temperature inside the flue can become extreme and cause the wire to melt, so you may not run the wire inside the flue. You may want to consult with your electrician. |
Do I have to remove the chimney fan every time I have my chimney cleaned? No. The top of the fan has hinges that allow the chimney sweep to easily access to the flue without removing the fan. |
Does the fan always have to be on, when I have a fire in the fireplace or stove?Yes, the fan needs to run in order to cool itself. You may, however, run it at a very low speed. |
Does the fan block my chimney? No, the fan offers no more resistance to your chimney than a chimney cap would do. |
Does the fan require its own electrical circuit? No, the fan only draws about 1 to 4 Amps (the same as a light bulb), depending on the size, and runs on 110V, which is standard in most homes. |
The fireplace spills due to negative pressure in the house. Won't the chimney fan add to the problem?Any exhaust fan (i.e. bathroom fans, kitchen hood, clothes dryer, etc.) will pull air out of the house. However, proper use of the fan speed control assures the chimney fan simply simulates the natural draft required for the fireplace to operate. Thus, the chimney fan will not exhaust more air than a well-functioning fireplace would have done. |
What are your warranties? The ENERVEX Chimney Fans are covered by extensive warranties: A 2-year factory warranty and a 10-year corrosion perforation warranty. |
What happens when you have a fire in the fireplace and a power failure occurs? You are likely to experience the same problems you had before the chimney fan was installed. The fan offers no more resistance than a chimney cap. Since other fans in your house – that may have aggravated your fireplace problem – are not functioning either, your fireplace may work fine without the use of the fan. |
What types of guarantees do you offer?ENERVEX offers a 6-Month Unconditional Money-Back Guarantee on our fans. If you are not happy with the fan, simply return it and we’ll refund your money – no questions asked. |
Will installing the chimney fan eliminate a constant down-draft and odor - even when the fireplace is not in use?Yes. If you run the fan continuously at a low setting, you will be able to reverse the down-draft and/or to eliminate odors from the flue. This will not affect the longevity of the fan and – since the fan uses very little power – it will use very little energy. |
